Every four years the FIFA World Cup comes around, ensuring an exciting, fun (and emotional if your squad doesn’t win) way to start the summer. While we enjoyed (and sometimes cried) watching the matches here at Farinella Downtown our friends over at ALIFE Rivington Club made our delectable pizzas their official Saturday game time meal. Sponsored by UMBRO the crew at ARC enjoyed several Saturdays of beautiful weather, delicious Farinella pizza and unforgettable World Cup action in the comfort and style at their exclusive courtyard hideout.Read More
We love weddings, we love artists and we love musicians…it turns out the love is mutual. This summer we were asked to feed the lovely, funky and very talented guests at the nuptials of the gorgeous violinist, singer/songwriter Tarrah Reynolds to Ethan White keyboardist of house music trio Tortured Soul. The lovely affair was held at the Akwaba Mansion in Stuyvesant Heights, Brooklyn. Family and friends of the couple dined on antipasti, crudités, our Mediterranean potato salad, pasta, and of course pizza. In addition to being treated to excellent eats, guests at the Reynolds-White wedding were treated by the couple to an exclusive CD featuring Tarrah’s Sun Song (produced by the duo) and Tortured Soul’s hit Fall in Love.
Congratulations Tarrah and Ethan.Read More
On September 9, 2010 we joined the legendary Harry Chalfant and about 500 B-Boys and B-girls, MCs, artists, and musicians, at Brooklyn Academy of Music’s ROSE cinema to help support a screening of Styles Wars. In 1983 director Harry Chalfant and producer Tony Silver made the watershed documentary Style Wars. STYLE WARS is regarded as the indispensable document of New York street-culture of the early 1980s; the filmic record of a golden age of youthful creativity that has inspired artists across the globe for over 2 decades.
We enjoyed watching Styles Wars in the company of such an eclectic crowd and loved seeing them chow down Farinella’s crispy, thin crust pizza.
In the words of George Jefferson from the show The Jeffersons…”We’re moving on up, to the eastside, they’ll finally get a piece of the palam”…hhhhhhmmmmm we’ll work on our remix. In the meantime it brings us great joy to announce the opening of our second Farinella location on Lexington Avenue between 78th and 79th streets here in money making Manhattan. As work was being completed on the inside of the store our own Alberto Cretara and Italian aerosol artist REPS got busy on the construction shed outside of the space. We believe the pair rather enjoyed painting on the Upper Eastside…on a sunny, peaceful, Sunday afternoon.Read More
